We offer you the ultimate tour to South Africa – an entire world in one country. This tour will give the traveller breath-taking views of pristine natural scenery; provide insight into the unique combinations of diverse cultures and heritage as well as first-hand encounters with a world-renowned “BIG 5” safari experience.

This tour will emphasise the Jewish history, culture & lifestyle in South Africa; including visits to Jewish museums, symbolic landmarks & iconic synagogues in little “dorpie” towns.

ITINERARY SUMMARY

DAY 1 – Arrival in Johannesburg – White River – 7 May 2018

  • Arrival at OR Tambo International before 12:00 (recommended flight South African Airways SA204)
  • Meet National SA Tour Guide at airport
  • Flight to Kruger region (Nelspruit)
  • Transfer to hotel in White River
  • Dinner at hotel

DAY 2 – Kruger National Park – 8 May 2018

  • Full-day safari excursion in open vehicles with dedicated rangers in Kruger
  • Stop at Skukuza rest camp for curio shopping and leisure time
  • Afternoon safari game drive
  • Transfer to hotel

DAY 3 – White River – Panorama Route – Private Safari – 9 May 2018

  • Drive along the Panorama Route:
    • God’s Window

    • The Three Rondawels viewpoint
  • Drive to luxurious private game reserve

DAY 7 – Johannesburg – Port Elizabeth – Tsitsikamma – 13 May 2018

  • Flight to Port Elizabeth
  • Port Elizabeth city tour by bus with visit to Jewish Pioneers Memorial Museum – commemorating the Jewish settlers that arrived from Britain in 1820
  • Drive to Tsitsikamma National Park
  • Walk to Suspension Bridge at Storm’s River Mouth in Tsitsikamma National Park
  • Transfer and dinner at lodge in Storm’s River

 DAY 8 – Tsitsikamma – Plettenberg Bay – 14 May 2018

  • Visit Plettenberg Bay Jewish Community Synagogue (with unique interior design)

DAY 9 – Plettenberg Bay – Knysna – Oudtshoorn – 15 May 2018

  • Lecture on Jewish life in the Klein Karoo by guide
  • Heritage tour at Cango Caves
  • Visit the new Oudtshoorn Shul, built using the unique local sandstone
  • Safari Ostrich Farm (5th generation of Jewish family owners) – ostrich tour & feeding
  • Transfer to hotel & dinner

 DAY 10 – Oudtshoorn – Barrydale – Stellenbosch – Cape Town – 16 May 2018

  • Stop at Ladismith Shul – the only Lithuanian style Synagogue in SA

NOTES

  • Kosher restaurants are available only in Cape Town and Johannesburg. In towns where Kosher restaurants are not available, the tour guide will advise travellers on Kosher grocery shopping at local supermarkets
  • There is no travelling on Shabbat on this trip and optional tour activities have been included. Travellers not observing Shabbat will have the choice of accompanying the guide on optional activities

 

REGISTATION & PAYMENT TIMELINES

  • $300 for tour registration – due 7 February 2018
  • Travellers will be advised if tour is confirmed for departure (on or before 7 February 2018). Travellers will be reimbursed the registration fee if the tour is not confirmed by 7 February 2018
  • $4200 per person for sharing travellers or $5000 per person for single travellers – due 7 March 2018

 

Africaly Tours & New York Jewish Travel Guide cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation before 7 March 2018 – $75 cancellation fee will be applied
  • Cancellation between 7 March and 30 April 2018 – 50% of all payments made are non-refundable
  • Cancellation between 30 April and 7 May 2018 – 75% of all payments made are non-refundable
  • Cancellations made on the day of departure and “no-shows” will receive no refund. There is no refund in the event of interruption or cancellation by the passenger after the start of the journey.

  • This tour requires a minimum of 8 passengers to be launched.
  • Accommodations listed in DRAFT itinerary is subject to availability. Accommodation will only be secured once the tour deposit payment is made for all travelers and the final accommodation will be listed in the FINAL version of the itinerary. Should the original accommodation not be available, accommodation of a similar standard will be selected and listed in the FINAL itinerary
  • Room types at the accommodations may differ between travelers
  • yAfricaly Tours & New York Jewish Travel Guide will not be held liable for any cancellations of attractions / activities during the tour due to unforseen external factors such as flight changes, weather, politics, riots etc. All cancelled activities are non-refundable. Although every effort is made to adhere to the original itinerary, we reserve the right to occasionally change routes as due to changing conditions
  • Any attractions activities cancelled / missed due to client negligence / request for cancellation will not be refunded
  • Africaly Tours & New York Jewish Travel Guide will not be reposnisible for any physical or financial to travellers damage, direct or indirect that will take place during the tour – e.g. accidents, illness, robbery, etc.
  • It is the client’s sole responsibility to ensure that passports, visas, health certificates, proof of vaccinations and any other required documentation are all in order for the countries to be visited during the tour.
  • Travel & medical insurance is mandatory for the tour. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that he or she has such insurance in place before embarking on the tour.
  • The travellers must at all times comply with the laws, customs, foreign exchange and other regulations of all countries visited on the tour.
