From an abundance of amenities such as free in-room Smartphone access to its central location in Tokyo, the Keio Plaza Hotel is the perfect base to explore the delights of the city. The Keio Plaza Hotel was the ideal place to stay, and provided stunning experiences which will remain with me for a long time. The staff was very gracious and accommodating in meeting all my needs. The location is 10 to 15 minutes away from the busy Shinjuku and Takashimaya Times Square (Shibuya) and Odakyu and Keio department stores, and it is only 3 to 4 minutes away from a small station called Tochomae. There are very wide light and airy underground tunnels just outside the side entrance of the hotel which lead directly into Shinjuku station.
It is a huge hotel… the lobby was a perfect meeting place with other visitors. The language abilities of the service staff was great. The staff was fantastic, friendly and always willing to assist when necessary as for example, I forgot the Wi Fi ID and password upon check in and had to call the front desk for it. The concierge personally helped me get my Wi-Fi connection working immediately. Best of all was the hospitality was perfect from the minute you walked in the door and with an unmatched pampering- all with incomparable Japanese courtesy from every level of employee. I loved the convenience of a nice minimart in the hotel on the lower floor and has a souvenir section for the last minute shoppers.
I enjoyed the nice ambiance of the room as well at the spectacular views of the city. I was pleased by the room (Plaza Premier Luxe Corner King) which was spacious, very quiet with a king size bed and soft pillows that will transported you to heaven. Everything was spotlessly clean. All the usual toiletries were provided including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash soap, shower cap, cotton swabs, toothbrush etc. but they went the extra mile and also provided things like hair ties,( not for me), razor with shower cream and after shave, and even a room/linen freshener spray. There are pajama, robes and slippers too. What else could you want! This is amazing service.
I was also pleasantly surprised with the premium service with the Sky lounge. You can enjoy the relaxing and quality atmosphere in this lounge. It’s a self-service environment perfect for everything from business meetings to a refreshing tea break during the day. Free coffee, cake and snacks, hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, soft drinks, and a great view is at your disposal.
The hotel has great restaurants. Most of the restaurants had Japanese food, they did have a Western style breakfast buffet, a Korean restaurant and a French/Italian restaurant. Breakfast was excellent with a large selection of food and drinks and with Mozart’s music playing in the background. For those who like to exercise, there is a fitness center I used almost every day and a beautiful spa.
Hello Kitty themed rooms! These rooms are completely decorated in Hello Kitty decor – everything from the carpet, the wallpapers, the sofas/chairs to even the washrooms. This most certainly will fulfill your fantasy of living in Hello Kitty Wonderland. There is also a Hello Kitty Breakfast Room Service Menu –Check their amazing menus- you would love it. Guests of Hello Kitty room in its sister city hotel in Tama can even take home some of following amenities: Original Hello Kitty doll, Hello Kitty plastic bag and Hello Kitty pen.
Another nice perk is that many different tours can be booked in the hotel tour office and they leave right from the lobby. It is also easy to get to the airport via limousine and they also provide a free shuttle bus going to Tokyo Disneyland. And when in need of Japanese currency, without any hassle, I had my dollar changed to JPY within a minute by using a money changer machine located on the ground floor. Every amenities is there at your fingertips.
A stand-out amenity for me was the complimentary smartphone in the room with free WiFi for use with maps, for accessing email, and for local and international calls! No need for a local SIM or the WiFi rental packages that abound and confuse you. What a relief to find that in the room when we checked in and all history on the phone would be automatically erased on check out day. What else is there ? You will find a plug converter is ready in drawer. And for the coffee addict, you will find a Nespresso machine in the room.
I had a delightful stay in Tokyo, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Tokyo. It is an excellent hotel in Shinjuku’s heart with excellent service!
