ACOYA Curacao Resort, Villas and Spa is an environmentally friendly upscale hotel with modern deluxe rooms, spacious villas, and luxuriously outfitted apartments near some of the most beautiful beaches and exciting tourist attractions in Curaçao.  One of the highlights of the hotel is its central location. It is 10 minutes from Willemstad World Heritage Historic Center; five minutes from Madero Beach, Curacao’s finest beach and shopping boulevard; and 20 minutes from Hato International Airport.

I was lucky to stay in a spacious one-bedroom villa with a beautiful covered patio decorated like an outdoor living room looking onto the pool. The bedroom and bathroom were both very spacious, with excellent air-conditioning.  I was impressed with the furnishings and bedding. My villa had a beachy/airy feeling with the dark wood and white furnishings and excellent closet space – including a massive storage closet in the bedroom large enough to hold bicycles for a family of four.  Other amenities include endless light in every room with the ability to walk outdoors from all rooms. All electrical receptacles are European-style (220V), but don’t worry if you don’t have the proper adapter; the hotel has them available upon request.

Acoya is a great place for relaxation and felt like home. The modern kitchen had all the appliances needed for basic meal preparation. The grounds are lovely, beautifully landscaped, and well maintained. There were two separate pools next to each other plus a kiddie pool, with plenty of space for everyone; the property also features a lake which looks beautiful at sunset. The pools were clean and felt less chilly upon entering than many others. The deck area had nice lounge chairs and plenty of seating available and is right next to the bar. Steli, the bartender, made a fabulous piña colada. The resort also offers a coffee shop and sports bar.

The Kitchen – Acoya Curaçao Resort, Villas & Spa

The resort offers both shuttles and taxis, with free service to the beach at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. (it is also in walking distance), to the supermarket at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and to the city center of Willemstad at 9 a.m. The resort also provides beach towels, and tickets for free entrance to the Mambo beach, including beach chairs.

You can now book an all-inclusive, three-meals-a-day dining plan plus snacks and drinks during the day. Options include The Kitchen buffet restaurant and, every other evening, an a la carte dinner at the Italian La Lagoon Trattoria and the steak restaurant Lake Side Grill. The food was very good and always fresh.  For workout buffs, a nicely furnished, fully equipped gym is on site in a villa.

The resort staff is very friendly and most of them speak four languages: Spanish, German, Papiamentu, and English — so communication is not a barrier.  The General Manager, Jose Abreu, was visible on the property and is a friendly gentleman, concerned for each guest’s experience.

Acoya Curaçao Resort, Villas & Spa

In all, I had a great time in Curacao, and the ACOYA played an integral part in that experienceIt is one of the BEST Hotels on the island.                         I will definitely return to Acoya on my next trip!
