The European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative (ESJF) has published as online books its surveys of Jewish cemeteries in Poland and Slovakia.
The books are published in the ISSUU format and are searchable and sharable.
Both cover extant cemeteries and destroyed cemetery sites and are reckoned to be the most comprehensive resources available to date on the location and condition of all known Jewish cemeteries in those countries.
They present much background and analytic material, including on legal status, and and in broad terms the current state of preservation and protection of the cemeteries — whether they are fenced or not. They do not list the number or condition of the gravestones in the cemeteries.
The Poland report “details the condition of 1,200 Jewish cemeteries surveyed across all 16 Polish voivodeships by ESJF surveyors between 2020 and 2024.”
The Slovakia report, compiled by ESJF surveyors between 2019 and 2025, provides information on the locations of all 745 known Jewish cemeteries in Slovakia.
